This month we present to you the works of independent photojournalist Sailendra Kharel. Sailendra will be sharing with us several of his personal projects. He will also share the works of some of his recent students; Prakash Rai, Subash Bastakoti, and Tsering Lama.

About Sailendra Kharel
Sailendra Kharel, (b. 1982) an independent photographer specialized in editorial and documentary working on long-term personal projects. He worked as staff photojournalist for The Kathmandu Post, Nepal’s leading newspaper for seven years. In 2012, he completed his “Post Graduate Diploma in Photojournalism” under full scholarship program at ACFJ, Ateneo de Manila University, Philippines supported by World Press Photo. His work has been widely published and exhibited in Nepal and internationally in prestigious festival of photography like Chobi-Mela, Dhaka 2009 and 2011, Angkor Photo Festival, Cambodia 2008 and 2011, 2012, Delhi Photo Festival, India, 2011. Kharel has received several local awards for his work. In 2011 he founded Voice to Express, with a vision of “Growing Together and Sharing in between”, to encourage young Nepali photographers providing a open floor to express their own voice by providing educational and counseling support to continue to work independently on their own personal photography projects.
