Rajendra Manandhar

Born in Kathmandu in 1978, Rajendra Manandhar is a self-taught photojournalist currently working for The Himalayan Times and Annapurna Post. Prior to photojournalism, he ran a commercial photo studio for over 5 years with a friend. Manandhar enjoys shooting news and culture and is recipient of numerous awards, including an award for heritage photography by Heritage Photo Vision Nepal in 2006, 1st Prize in the News Category of the NFPJ Press Photo Contest 2006 and a Gold Medal from the Prime Minister for his coverage of Jana Andolan II. Manandhar is also the first Nepali photojournalist to file a copyright lawsuit. His case against INSEC and COCAP is still pending at the Kathmandu Supreme Court. Nepal has no clear laws that allow a photographer to protect his or her copyright.

PRESENTATIONS
Jana Andolan II
The Prime Minister awarded a Gold Medal to Rajendra Manandhar for his coverage of Jana Andolan II. Perhaps more significantly, his prolific documentation of what was perhaps one of Nepal's most transformational political periods will be engraved in the memories of the Nepali citizenship for a long time to come.
